Our Story
At Ethnyk, we create bold and unapologetic contemporary translations of authentic West African Silhouettes.
We work primarily with two of the most recognisable silhouettes in West African fashion; the kaftan /boubou and the iro and buba - a traditional Yoruba blouse and wrapper. These silhouettes are a throwback of a precolonial globalised world. Resilient and ethereal they have stood the test of time.
We create fashionable and affordable clothing that prove that African silhouettes are just as timeless as their Western counterparts. We want African women to feel just as comfortable in an Iro and Buba or a kaftan as they do in a skirt suit or a dress. These silhouettes are our inheritance and we take pride in in keeping this inheritance alive.
Each Ethnyk piece is ethically and sustainably produced by indigenous dressmakers, and artisans at our workshop in Nigeria. With each piece strive to celebrate the creativity, resilience and fierce dynamism of modern African fashion.
